Robert “Bob” William McGavin

On Wednesday, August 10, 2022, Robert “Bob” William McGavin of Woodinville, Washington, passed away peacefully at the age of 77.

Bob was born on May 18, 1945, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, to William McGavin and Hazel McGavin (later Pack). He grew up in the Seattle area alongside his brothers, Donald and David. His brother Donald preceded him in death.

After graduating from Inglemoor High School, Bob served in the United States Army. He later married Virginia “Ginny” McGavin, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

Bob appreciated the comforts of home and the beauty of the natural world around him. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping at Pillar Point, and throughout his life, he loved spending summer days boating on Puget Sound, fishing for salmon and crabbing. In later years, he especially enjoyed outings aboard his Boston Whaler. At home in Woodinville, he took great pleasure in the peaceful beauty of his wooded property, the wildlife that visited, and the many dogs, cats, fish, and plants he lovingly cared for over the years. Whether out on the water or tending to his property, he found enjoyment in the familiar rhythms of the life he had made.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ginny; his daughters, Paula Sutton of Seattle, Washington, Monica Hultberg of Stamps, Arkansas, and Laurie Olson of Bothell, Washington; his six grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, Timothy, Elisabeth, Tobias, and Parker; and his brother, David Pack of Seattle, Washington.

He will be remembered for his love of nature, his affection for animals, and the quiet pleasures that made his life his own. He will be missed.
