Jack Moschel passed away peacefully June 6, 2026, in Bothell, WA. His final days were spent enveloped in the love of his wife, children, and siblings. Jack was a gentle, peaceful, family man who believed in “being here now”. His roots were in Cincinnati, but he loved his home of 50 years in the Pacific Northwest. He was an avid outdoors-man who imparted his love of nature and wilderness to his three children.

Jack was born in Cincinnati, Ohio 04/15/1950, the second of twelve children, to Jacqueline and Louis Moschel.  His huge family was at the center of his life, and though he migrated to Seattle in 1976, he returned to Cincinnati often. His returns always entailed much frivolity, fanfare and poolside cannonball competitions, and his departures always finished with tearful goodbyes and promises of a happy reunion. Blessed with a tight-knit family, Jack’s heart forever rested with his loved ones.

He attended St Xavier High School and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Cincinnati. He spent his career working in immunohematology and blood banking, employed at Puget Sound Blood Center, Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, and Providence General Medical Center.

He moved to Seattle in 1976 and fell in love with the mountains and waterways of the Pacific Northwest. He took up rock climbing, backpacking, and skiing. He met his wife Sue at Puget Sound Blood Center, and they spent the next 45 years skiing at Whistler, backpacking the Cascade and Olympic mountains, river rafting, and lounging on Hawaiian and wilderness beaches.  They married in 1986, and raised three children, Ben, Moureen and Sam. Life was filled with family events, scouts, sports, music, ski trips, and outdoor vacations. Jack loved having the house full of kids, and friends were always welcome for pancake breakfasts, Cincinnati chili, and his famously verbose words of wisdom.

Jack was a deeply spiritual man of Catholic faith, but his spiritual connection went beyond the church. He was interested in Native American spiritualism, and the connections he found in nature. He taught his children to love, respect, and care for others. Above all, he was a joyful man. The life of many parties, he went out of his way to make sure everyone enjoyed the day’s jocularity. He helped many family members, friends and strangers navigate both hardship and success, and he did it all with a full, peaceful heart.

Jack is survived by his wife Sue, his children Ben (Britney), Moureen (Ben), and Sam. He is also survived by his 11 siblings, Dan (Judy), Tom (Ruth), Colleen (Chuck), Becky (Bob), Kim (Randy), Tim (Cindy), Mary, Susanne (Tim), Jennifer (Rich), Christopher (Shari), and Michelle (Matt).

The family would like to thank NobleCare Adult Family Home in Bothell, WA for the truly loving and exceptional care he received there in his last months. Donations can be made in Jack’s name to Evergreen Hospice. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Bothell, WA.  There will be Cincinnati chili for all.  A service will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio at a later date.
