Monica Ellen Dutton

Monica Ellen Dutton, 67, of Kirkland, WA, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on July 1, 2023.  Monica was born in Everett, WA and soon after moved to Bellevue, WA with her five siblings and loving parents.

Monica was a gifted crafter, baker, and gardener. She was always trying a new craft technique or recipe, sharing all that she created with her loved ones. You could always count on her having homemade cookies in the freezer, much like her own mom, and she loved to make you feel extra special with her amazingly creative birthday and holiday cards. She looked forward to trips to the ocean and spending time with her family.  Grammy’s Craft Day was a special Christmas tradition her grandchildren looked forward to each year. She will be deeply missed.

Monica is survived by her four children Sarah, Allison, Rachel (Mike), and Matt (Amanda), and her seven favorite grandchildren in the world Kassidy, Logan, Lucy, Theo, Weston, Rhys, and Bennett. She is also survived by her five siblings, Margaret (Mike), Joe, Mary (Steve), Janet, and Mike (Rian), and countless friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and M. Dolores Harrington. Her family takes comfort knowing they are together again.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Monica on August 20, 2023 – click for more details.

I lost a life long friend on Saturday. A loving, caring, supportive and wonderful friend. You suffered more than one person should have to. You leave behind some great kids and grandkids. Your Christmas crafting get togethers will always be remembered by your grands. I always loved to hear what the current years craft was going to be. I am so blessed to have had you in my life for 60+ years. Thank you. I truly believe you’re reunited with your parents again. Rest in peace, my friend.

Monica was so kind, warm and welcoming. The times I stayed round her house when travelling with Rachel. She welcomed me with open arms and had an infectious smile and a wicked sense of humour. Rest in peace.

My favorite person. The best grammy, the best crafter and baker that ever was. You taught us all kindness & showed us all the best love. I don’t know what we’re going to do without you. I love you.

Monica and I were Co-Mothers-in-Law to Matt and Amanda and she probably never knew how much I admired her amazing talents and incredibly large and loving heart. I’ve seen how her children have loved her and cared for her and I know the loss must be excrutiaing. Hugs to all her children and grandchildren.

Monica was a very dear friend of ours for many years. We lost touch for many years and got back together only a couple years ago. She always seemed like our little sister and we were so happy we reconnected. Her children and grandchildren were her soul reason for being on this earth. Her poor little body could just not fight any longer. She is now pain free and with her beloved parents. We will all miss her terribly but rejoice in the fact that she is finally at peace.

Monica was a very special person and she will be missed. Some people are put on this earth to make others lives better and I believe she was one of them. My husband Larry and I met her through her work at Evergreen and she always left us with a smile. We all have one more angel watching over us.

Mom I’m missing you so so much. You were my best friend and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to call. Just my absent mind. I just don’t know when this hurting heart will feel better. I’m so grateful for the amazing qualities you have given me. I will never know anyone with a bigger heart than you mom. I love you so much. I can’t wait to see you again.
