Richard (Rich) Paul Blomquist died peacefully on May 13th, 2023 in Seattle, Washington. He was born in 1934 to Richard Paul Blomquist and Marie Rockway Blomquist, and was raised in Aberdeen, Washington.

Rich graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1952. After attending Grays Harbor Junior College and University of Washington, he became a professional grocer in the Seattle area. Rich married Patricia Ann Scure in 1956 and they were happily married for 50 years until her passing. He retired in 2005 after 31 years of managing Pete’s Super, an independent grocery store located near Lake Union. He loved old cars, symphonic music, and Husky football, where he was a longtime season ticket holder. Rich also found meaning and comfort in his church community of Messiah Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his children: Christina Blomquist, Cheryl Blomquist, Rick Blomquist, Susie Gelman, Kathy Crumley, Linda Uehlein, 14 grandchildren, one great grandchild and his dear friend Jane Krueger.

Rich was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Blomquist, and his sisters, Ruth Flaherty and Karen Pust.

Funeral Services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7050 35th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98115, July 29th at 11:00AM.

Donations in Rich’s memory may be sent to Lutheran Ministry Services Northwest 7040 36th Ave NE Seattle, WA 98115, whose mission outreach he supported.

    I’m saddened by the passing of my Uncle Richard, beloved brother of my mom, Karen. I am praying for peace and consolation for his family and loved ones at this time. We will miss you!
