Teresa Lee (Bergstrom) Apostolou was born to Ernest and Frances (Irene) Bergstrom on December 3, 1949.  Most people knew she grew up in the Seattle area, but not everyone knows she was actually born in the small town of International Falls, Minnesota at Memorial Hospital.  The family relocated to the Seattle area in September 1951.  They had a 1941 Chevy Coupe, and Teresa loved the shelf in the back window where she slept most of the way.  Teresa was the oldest sibling to her brother Mickey, and sisters Janice and Julzz.

She attended Ridgecrest Elementary School, Morgan Junior High and graduated from Shoreline High School in 1968.  Teresa was drawn to a world of glamour and followed her dreams to make the world beautiful by attending Renons School of Beauty, where she graduated in 1970.  She landed her first job at a high-end salon in Madison Park called “This is Michael James”.

She married captain of the football team Steven Stone on February 14, 1970, in Lake Forest Park, and soon after gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on June 22, 1970, Zoie (Stone) Steed.  Unfortunately, their marriage came to an end in 1972, and Teresa took on the heroic role as sole financial supporter and single mom.

In 1975, Teresa was offered a Management position at Rosalee Cantrell’s Salon in Pike Place Market.  Here she met the Love of her Life, George Forrest Apostolou (Geoff) in October 1974.  He was an Oregon State University graduate in Business, starting out at Denby Stoneware, and played Rugby for the Portland Pigs.  They started dating in 1975.  He fell in love with both Teresa and her daughter Zoie, and they married June 21, 1980, at his parents’ home on Mercer Island.  That year they relocated to San Bruno, California, where Teresa worked the Fragrance Bar at Macy’s in San Francisco.  Life was great in the sunshine state, but Geoff took a new position with Swarovski, which brought them back to Mercer Island in 1984. Geoff and Teresa bought their first home together in Redmond in 1985.  She always referred to the house in Timberline as her “dream home”.  She was very happy and was quickly hired on to work the Fragrance Bar at Fredrick & Nelson’s, only later to be promoted to Sales Associate in Fine Jewelry.  They were on top of the world and celebrating life with family and friends.  Teresa became a grandmother to a beautiful baby girl, Jordan Steed, in 2001.

Unfortunately, in 1998 Geoff’s parents became ill, so Geoff and Teresa moved back to Mercer Island to take care of them.  Teresa passed away on June 28, 2021, at her home on Mercer Island, with her husband Geoff close by.  She leaves behind her husband Geoff, daughter Zoie Steed, granddaughter Jordan Steed, her parents Ernest and Frances (Irene) Bergstrom, her brother Mickey Bergstrom and her sisters Janice Arias and Julzz Studley.

Her smile could light up a room.  Her beauty and kindness were contagious.  She will be forever missed.

Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at The Winemakers Reserve

at 15902 Woodinville-Redmond Road NE, Suite D, Woodinville, WA this Sunday from 11am to 2pm.
