LeDair Frederick Porter, 69, was born November 25, 1951 to Howard and Eleanor Porter in Spearfish, South Dakota.  He departed this earthly life July 15, 2021 in Sedro-Woolley, Washington.

LeDair was predeceased by a sister Ruth Rosemary, his mother Eleanor Bentley Porter, his father Howard Porter, his step mother Margaret Withey Porter, a brother John Howard Porter and a sister Celeste Porter Langer.

LeDair is survived by his beloved wife Rachel Porter of the home, mother in law Maria Brown and step father in law Terry Brown both of Washington, a sister Mary Eleanor Porter Beamish of Nebraska, a sister Christine Porter McElroy of Maryland, a brother Ransom Porter of Washington, a sister Carol Porter Jordan of Oklahoma, Veronica Porter DeArmond of  Montana and William Porter of Texas, many in laws, nieces, nephews and friends.  He will be sorely missed.

LeDair attended two high schools:  one in Wessington Springs, South Dakota and one in Spearfish, South Dakota.  Following high school he attended Central College in McPherson, Kansas, where he traveled and sang baritone in the popular “New World Quartet”.  It was during those college days that he committed his life to Jesus.  He then moved to the Seattle area where he began work in the carpet business.  When no longer able to work on his knees, he worked in the prison system as a correctional officer for a period.  In 2004 he married the love of his life Rachel and they were wed for 17 years.  During that time he was of great help to Rachel in her Balloon Splendor business.  He also loved helping people and for a time served as a personal care giver to several elderly persons.  In addition he served as a student advocate on a school bus for children with special needs.

LeDair loved the performing arts.  God had truly gifted him with the ability to act and sing on stage, frequently as lead musician/actor in many of their church musicals.  He would use his talents whenever he could and he did it with such compassion.  A prime example is when his older brother was dying he flew to Minnesota and sang him right into heaven’s gates.

LeDair had a great sense of humor and loved joking with his family and friends.  He seemed to always be the life of the party!

LeDair Frederick Porter will be laid to rest July 24, 2021 in the Novelty Cemetery,  28031 NE 116th St,  Duvall, Washington.  The graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM.
