After a long illness, Charles Bruce Montgomery died peacefully at his home in Kirkland, Washington on June 25th, 2021 at the age of 87.

Born Oct. 24, 1933, during his school years he was active in Future Farmers of America, earning a state FFA degree in 1951, and was a livestock judge at many county fairs in the area. Until health issues in later years, he was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He also kept a large vegetable garden and was very involved in the Lakeside Christian Church, which at that time was called The First Baptist Church of Kirkland.

After high school while still working on the family farm, he began working in construction for a pipeline company. This entailed a lot of travel and it was in Burrton, Kansas where he met his wife Helen JoAnn Roberts. They were married in 1953 and were to remain married for 67 years, until his passing.

In 1957, he started working at Boeing as a mechanic. He then became a quality control inspector and eventually worked in procurement. In the following nine years the family moved many times for Boeing. They lived in Wichita (KS), El Paso (TX), Roswell (NM), Bossier City (LA) and Bay St. Louis (MS) until finally settling in Kirkland, Washington in 1966. Charles stayed at Boeing for 33 years until his retirement in 1989. Some of the projects he worked on and was most proud of was the Saturn 5 rocket that took the first astronauts to the moon and the first 747 airplane.

After retirement he worked as a handy man, donating his time to Lakeside Christian Church in Kirkland, where he was a member since 1967 as well as helping the elderly who needed home repairs.

Charles will be remembered fondly by his family and friends as a responsible, kind, and loving father and husband, and an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by his wife Helen, children Paul, Mark and Julie, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Charles Montgomery (1972), mother Flossie Inez Montgomery (nee Lay) (1936), and brother Robert Lay Montgomery (1996).

The family would like to thank all of those whose have helped them throughout this journey, and in leiu of flowers would like that donations be made to Lakeside Christian Church, Kirkland WA.

    Dear Helen and family:
We were so fortunate to know Chuck. He did many household chores for us during the years and we always looked forward to seeing him. His smile was such a bright light and his faith was an example for us to try to follow. I know that God welcomed him home with open arms.
Lots of love to all of you.
