Janet Louise (Lawson) Steiger
Janet Louise (Lawson) Steiger was born February 16th, 1937, in Hamilton, Ohio. Her parents were Lester Lawson and Ida (McDaniels) Lawson. Janet passed away on October 5th, 2020, in Burien, Washington.
She is survived by her two sisters Cheryle Weir and Judy Bowman, her brother Merle Lawson; Janet’s daughters Melodie Hayes and Melinda Stensaas, her sons Kevin and Scott Steiger; her grandchildren Brandon Wolfe, Savannah Steiger-Tetrault, Katherine and Jackson Steiger, Lindsay Ditlow and Hannah Steiger, Rachel Broberg, and Casey Stensaas; and her great grandchildren Kyleigh Wolfe, and Ocean and Remus Tetrault. Janet’s loving husband of 61 years, George B. Steiger, predeceased her on December 7th, 2018.
Janet grew up in Hamilton Ohio, and graduated from Hamilton High School. She and George married and moved to the Pacific Northwest shortly afterwards when George was stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station by the United States Navy. After George finished his enlistment, the couple decided to stay in the Puget Sound region and raise a family. Janet worked for Avis Rent a Car while taking classes in bookkeeping at Highline Community College. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Forde Motion Picture Labs and the Popich and Chris Sign Company. She and George then retired to Gig Harbor, Washington.
Janet was a wonderful mother and wife. She loved good conversation and good food. When her children were in school, she was fully involved with their music and sports activities, attending many games and concerts. She was a Mariners fan, had many hobbies and enjoyed keeping up with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A music lover, Janet’s favorite artists were Kenny Rogers, Glenn Campbell and Elvis Presley. She also loved her pet cats.
Private services for the family will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis Hospice of Burien.

I went to grade school with Janet and as I remember, we always battled for the first seat in the class, I also remember that she walked on the balls of her feet or on her toes. She was the best looking girl in our class and I have always remembered.
I live in Wilmington, Ohio and coached football for 30 years, taught school after graduated from Wilmington College, married, 3 children, 6 grand children and 7 great grand children. So sorry she passed but I a;ways wondered what became of her. Address:185 Cape May Dr., Wilmington Ohio, 45177
