Connie Cussac

Born in Seattle on March 27, 1941, to William and Rexine Casey, Connie passed away peacefully on September 18, 2020.  She spent her childhood in Tacoma and Seattle, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959.  Playing tennis one afternoon during high school she challenged Gary Cussac to a match. and while it’s still up for debate who won, they began to date and were married on August 1st, 1959.  After living in North Seattle for 10 years, they moved to the Juanita neighborhood in Kirkland, where they lived until her passing.

Connie loved to travel, especially visiting the sunshine of Hawaii, California and Arizona.  She was a lifelong Husky fan, holding season tickets to Husky football for over 40 years and travelling to multiple Rose Bowl games.  Most of all though, she was passionate about her family, which typically revolved around her children’s, and eventually grandchildren’s, athletic activities.  Rarely missing one of their games, Connie and Gary could usually be found at a field or gym cheering on the Juanita Rebels, which continued for long after their children had graduated from Juanita High School.

Preceded in death by her parents, brother Ned Casey and sister Kathy Sigafoos, she is survived by Gary, her husband of 61 years; her four children, Grant (Theresa), Garth (Carol), Christie Reitan (Jeff) and Geoff; seven grandchildren, Gabe, Jamie, TJ, Jennifer, Kyle, Hayes and Ava; one great-grandchild, Austin, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made in her honor to 4MOM, a foundation committed to finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. Visit 4MOM.org/donate.

A celebration of Connie’s life will be held in the Spring of 2021.
