Carolyn J. Gunning

Carolyn J. Gunning died on July 3, 2020.  She was born on July 15, 1933 in Boston, Mass., daughter of the late attorney Edmund F. Avallone and the late Margaret F. Avallone.  She leaves her husband Robert L. Gunning, her son Bradley J. Keane of Elgin, So. Carolina and her sister Rona Cronin of Boston, Massachusetts.  She was preceded in death by her daughter Renee C. Keane and her sister Marguerite F. Avallone.

Carolyn was petite but brave, undergoing many devastating losses of family and friends, while fighting off pain from various afflictions and surgeries.  But even while continuing to suffer through agonizing pain during our all-to-brief 12 years together, on multiple occasions she would suddenly turn to me and say, “Isn’t it wonderful that we have each other?”  Yes it was, my loving Carolyn.  I was so lucky for the time I spent with you.

    Bob and Brad,
We grieve with you at the loss of our dear Auntie Carol. I have many happy memories of dinners at her home throughout the years. I am sorry that she suffered so, and am comforted by the love that you gave her, Bob. Hope that your many memories will comfort you at this sad time. Reach out anytime. Keep in touch.
