Irene Mae Haufle

 

Irene Mae Haufle (Sanders) was born March 31, 1925 in Nespealum,Wa. Daughter of Herbert & Etha Norton. Preceded in death by her husbands Ernest (Gene) Sanders & Edward Haufle, brothers Glen, Bob, John and sisters Marion, Delores, Betty and Shirley.

She is survived by her sons James and Daniel; daughter Melody;  5 grandchildren, Robert, Jesse, Christina, Jim Jr.and Michelle;  7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brothers, Ben and Herbie, and sisters, Carolyn and Nancy.

She is the oldest of 12 siblings and was raised on a farm in Tonasket, WA, and relocated to Lynnwood, WA, in the early 1950’s. She spent the majority of her working career at Firlands Rehabilitation Center for Children. After retiring, she served as a volunteer with Shoreline Senior Center and Swedish Edmonds Hospital for over 20 years, logging in over 7800 hours by age 90.

She loved traveling, especially cruises and many road trips visiting family and friends along the way.  She loved her garden at son Jim’s home, and was an avid walker. All attributed to her 94 years.  She LOVED all her family.

The family would like to thank her many specialist in the medical field who all took such great care of her throughout the years.   You ALL are amazing and much appreciated.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no formal services but will be having a celebration of her life at a later date.

    What a lucky granddaughter I am to have known you Irene. Thank you for being such a special person. I’m glad we took selfies on my last visit and David got to see his great grandmother. Be nice to the other angels.
