Rick Merritt

Rick and Sharon

Richard (Rick) Glenn Merritt passed away surrounded by his family on July 30, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his father Richard Merritt.  Rick is survived by his mother Glenda Dougall, wife and partner in everything in life Sharon Merritt, sisters Denise, Leslie, Robin, and Tylene.  Rick is also survived by his four children Rick, Kristina, Robert, and Darren.  Rick is survived by and was blessed with six grandchildren Kee, McKenzie, Paige, Tristan, Lucy and Charlette.

Rick spent nearly two decades working at Weyerhauser in Snoqualmie WA until it’s closure.  He went on to spend the remainder of his career at Herc Rentals as a heavy equipment mechanic until he retired.  He made many friends throughout his career and was known for his strong work ethic, reliability and being the one who always got things done.

Rick lived his life with a very simple philosophy, family first.  Family was the most important thing to Rick, and he passed that lesson on to his children and grandchildren to carry on.  He truly did not just simply have friends; if you were an important part of his life then he treated you as if you were part of his family.  He always went out of his way to help others not because he felt obligated, but because to him it was as simple as asking yourself “Why wouldn’t you help”.

Rick was the anchor for his family, a mentor, a life partner and husband of 46 years, a father, a father in law, and grandfather that will be forever and eternally missed by his family.  He was a friend to many more than he will ever know, and the world will be a very different place for certain without him.

Rick’s family would like to ask that in lieu of flowers or cards that you would rather take time to donate blood within your community or donate to charitable organizations that are working towards curing cancer.
