Von was born in Elgin, North Dakota, the eldest of 5 brothers.  His parents were Clara (Haas) and Richard Zeller.   After high school, he came to Seattle in 1957, and soon after began a family, working several jobs at once to make ends meet.  As a kid, he loved cars and getting into mischief with his brothers and friends.  He always loved animals, especially cats.  As an adult, he still loved to chat over beers, with friends and talking about cars, the Seahawks, and the Mariners and current events.  And whenever he could, he had a cat or two.

Von passed peacefully after complications of a stroke and cancer on July 16, 2019.  He is survived by his his daughter, Lynn Zeller of Boise, Idaho, his brother Norm Zeller (Barbara) of Hermiston, Oregon, and his companion of 32 years, Lavina Bob, his grandson Randy (Erin) Gross of the greater Seattle area, his grandaughter Nicholette (Matt) Eley of Anchorage, AK, and his nephew, Ty Zeller of Richland, WA, his niecesLea Noragon of the Portland area, Heidi Miller of Vancouver, WA and Holly Zeller of Vancouver, WA.  He has many cousins in North Dakota and beyond, especially Londa Schwartz.  He also has many friends in the West Seattle area.
