Vernal Evera Morgan

Vernal Evera Miller was born on October 3, 1930 at home in Kimberly, ID.  He passed away at home in Shoreline WA, on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, with his wife, Kathy and her sister Jean at his side holding his hands.  When he was 14 years old, living with his grandmother, he was legally adopted by her and his name changed to Vernal Evera Morgan.  After graduating from Kimberly High School in Idaho, he moved to Edmonds, WA where his mother and siblings lived.  There he began to use the shortened name of Vern Morgan.  He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Kathy) McGinnis Morgan.  They would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in December of this year.  His four children, Diane Elise Morgan Erdmann (James) of Marysville, WA; Shellie Janine Morgan Schultz (David) of Livonia MI; Blair David Morgan of Shoreline, WA; and Reid Elliott Morgan (Audrey Heaton) of Marysville, WA.  He leaves fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two brothers Dennis Alton (Barbara Payne) of Snohomish WA and James Alton of Chino Valley AZ, as well as many other extended family members.  A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shoreline Stake Center 102 N 132nd, Seattle WA, 98133.  There will be a viewing at 10:00 am and a funeral at 11:00 am.  Interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, 23800 – 104th Ave N. Edmonds Washington.  Vern was a son, a brother a missionary, a veteran, a husband, a father, a provider a singer with perfect pitch, and a teacher.  Besides his family he touched the lives of his students in the Seattle Public schools and especially the high school aged students he served in his 30 plus years of teaching in the early morning Seminary program of Church.  He held many different Church responsibilities in his life from Choir Director to a member of the Bishopric.  He was a friend and a man of Integrity.  He loved to laugh and most of all he loved his family.  He will be remembered and missed.
