Justin C. Brecht, age 30, of Cheboygan passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 in Seattle, WA. He was born July 13, 1987 in Oakland County, the son of Rhonda Brecht.

Justin graduated from Central High School in Memphis, TN in 2005 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a Loadmaster and traveled extensively throughout his tour. Upon his discharge from the service, he returned to Michigan and worked as a dispatcher for CCE 911, Central Dispatch, in Petoskey. He always wanted to become a pilot and enjoyed flying remote controlled helicopters and drones. He was musically talented, being able to play any instrument he picked up. He greatly enjoyed photography, and took countless, beautiful pictures of sunsets and scenery to share with friends and family. He had a great love for animals, namely his best buddy “Cruizer”. Those he worked with, at CCE, always knew him as a practical joker who loved to laugh and remember him as being an excellent 911 dispatcher.

Survivors include his mother, Rhonda, six siblings, Alyssa, Alec (Devin), Joseph (Emily), Jesse (Amanda), Alexandria and Amanda, his grandfather, Fred Brecht, his aunt, LorEna (Jamie) Robinson, great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who love him dearly. Also, his close friends, Chris Heckman, Jade Bowen, and Taylor Phillips; the Phillips family graciously donated Justin’s casket. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patricia Brecht, his great grandmother, Edith Sutherby and two uncles, Jeff Brecht and Fred Brecht.

The funeral service will take place at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home on Monday, July 30 at 1:00 PM with the family greeting friends beginning at 11:00 AM. Chaplain Dianne Myers will officiate and burial with full military honors will take place at Riggsville Cemetery.
