Barbara Lee Foye, 1960

Barbara Lee Foye, went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2018. She passed after a year and a half struggle with vascular dementia.

Barbara was born on January 5th 1942 to Paul Gatterman  and Frances Gatterman (Poier). At the age of 9, her father Paul Gatterman unexpectantly died March 26, 1951, this event had a significant impact on her. After this, her older brother Eugene Gatterman became a father figure to her. He worked multiple jobs to help support the family.

Barbara was proceeded in death by her brother on December 17, 2016. This was particularly hard on her. On November 25th 1953 Frances Gatterman ( Poier) married Mr. Ruben Levi. Ruben was a great step father and enjoyed spoiling Barbara. Ruben would do anything for both Eugene and Barbara and considered them his own children.

Barbara graduated from Monroe High School in the class of 1960. During these final years of school Barbara met Kenneth L Foye and married him on November 25th 1961.

Ken and Barbara moved to Sacramento California soon after their marriage. They lived with Ken’s Aunt Norma Wells (Foye) ,Chuck Wells and family. They soon found their own apartment and enjoyed being part of the Wells family in California. Ken then took a job in Portland Oregon at an automatic transmission rebuild facility.

They enjoyed their time in Portland with many fond memories. Ken received a promotion to help start a new state of the art transmission plant in Fresno California, so off they went. While in Fresno, Barbara worked for an Insurance agency. While working at the insurance agency Barbara became pregnant and quit to have her first and only child, Kenneth L Foye Jr. on August 19th 1967.

Barbara was back to work in July of 1968 at an Architect Firm, then in 1971 went to

work in the redwood industry and finally in 1974 went to work in a law firm. Barbara had worked hard to advance her career in accounting and book keeping as well as general office functions.

In 1976 Barbara and Ken decided to move back to Washington State to be with their family. Upon her return to Washington she went to work for Behars’s Furniture in February 1976.

Over the next 31 years Barbara made many life long friends, some of which were in contact with her family checking on Barbara within 24 hour of her death.

Barbara retired from Behar’s in 2007. In retirement, Barbara enjoyed a long membership in the Tualco Grange and enjoyed her time in a book club. Barbara also enjoyed gardening and traveling. Barbara took great joy spending time with friends and family during holidays and celebrations , this is what she took the most joy in doing.

Barbara is survived by her son Ken Foye Jr, wife Patti Foye, her only grandchild Rachel Foye and fiancé Luke Hilt. Barbara also is survived by two nephews, Michael (Cherie)  Gatterman, Steve Gatterman and niece Kristine Gallant.

Barbara will be missed, she was always kind and generous to everyone she came into contact with.

There will be a celebration of her life on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2-6 pm, at the Tualco Grange 18933 Tualco Rd, Monroe, WA 98272.

 

 

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran School, Lake Stevens, WA in her name.

    I worked with Barb for many years, she was always so nice, and I know she loved her family so much! I would have to say she was the best cook I knew! I missed her when she left Behar’s and told her at the time it wasn’t the same once she retired! I’m sorry for the family’s loss.
