Raymond A. Busse, 79, of Kirkland, WA, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at his home.
Ray was born October 1, 1938 in Syracuse, New York, to Maria L. and Raymond E. Busse. He graduated from Liverpool High School in 1955 and from Syracuse University in 1959. On November 17, 1973, he married the former Judy Paris in Seattle. Ray had a successful and honorable career with Boeing as an Electrical Engineer for 36 years. He enjoyed reading, tennis, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his son, Chris, his daughter, Jennifer, and his wife Judy of Kirkland, WA, two grandchildren, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria L. Croft and Raymond E. Busse, and his brother, Leonard Busse.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00, Saturday, March 10th at Barton Funeral Home, 11630 Slater Ave NE, Suite 1A, Kirkland, WA 98034. A Funeral Mass will take place Monday, March 12th, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, 10049 NE 195th St, Bothell, WA 98011. Ray will be laid to rest by close family at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Washington Youth Soccer Association.

Ray was such a good man. We have been so blessed to live next door for so many years. To watch the children grow up and now the grandchildren. I will truly miss our driveway chats. Much love to the entire family.
Ray was one of the good ones. Always kind, upbeat, genuine. He lit up the tennis court with his smile. He will be missed.
I worked with Ray on two projects at the Boeing Company. It was a privilege to have known and worked with him. He was an astute engineer that all his associates looked up to. Rest in peace Ray.
Greeting everyone with a big smile at morning tennis, encouraging his partner, and making it a better day for everyone. We are so grateful to have Ray in our life.
It has been a privilege throughout the last 20 years to live next door to Ray and Judy, who have always been the greatest neighbors. We will truly miss his inviting smile, backyard conversations and infectious laugh. A true gentleman, always thoughtful, and a ray of sunshine. We will miss Ray very much.
I am sorry to hear about Ray. I have known the family for over 30 years having had Chris and Jennifer in preschool. Often ran into Ray and Judy over the years on the Mariner bus. Thoughts and prayers to your family.
Many fond memories playing tennis doubles with Ray and Judy so many Sunday mornings over the years. Ray will be missed by all who knew him well.
Ray was one of my earliest soccer coaches. When I heard of this news, all I could see in my minds eye was his big smile and…. his mustache! He was so kind and encouraging and I’m so thankful for the positive experience he provided under his coaching. He will be missed!
Ray was surely one of a kind and it was always a pleasure to associate with this merry gentleman. He especially made our tennis experiences something to long remember. Indeed, he was a good man.

I have not known Ray for long, but in that time it became clear that he was a “class act” – positive, upbeat and a pleasure to be around. Will miss his smile!

He was always busy working on something around the house and taking care of the yard. Our children grew up together playing in the cul-de-sac. He was always off to play tennis with his family and had joy with them. He will be greatly missed.

One of my fondest memories of childhood was playing soccer. Ray and my dad coached together. Ray was always supportive, positive, and encouraging. I will always remember him cheering us on in the muddiest and rainiest of conditions…Go Red Hots! Ray, I hope you are enjoying many soccer games and tennis matches! You left a wonderful mark on this earth.
Ray and I coached girls soccer together for many years and he was one of the best men I have had the pleasure of knowing. He was a very good coach and was always very kind, dependable, and always a positive role model. I have many good memories of Ray. He was one of the best!
