Elaine “Toots” Violet Astad

Born in Seattle, WA on July 27, 1927 to Neno and Ann Camandona.  Elaine also shared many years growing up with her Grandma, Anna Kaperak, who lived in Roslyn, WA.  She had two brothers, Harold, known to most as Bud, who is married to Vivian and her late brother, Gerald, known as Gerry, who was married to Donna.

Working at the Pike Place Market with her Dad, Elaine met and married Chuck Reynolds.  They were married for 22 years and had two daughters, Chary and Bobbie, and was blessed with three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  After divorcing she met Paul Benjamin Astad, the love of her life, at a Parents Without Partners dance and they were married for 30 years until his passing in 1998.  She had the joy of helping him raise his four children, John, Grace, Chris (now deceased) and Sonya and then was blessed with one more grandchild.

Elaine worked as a checker for many years until marrying Paul in 1968.

Her favorite past time was gardening and she really loved her flowers and could name almost any flower she saw.  Her indoor favorite past time was watching old movies and in the latter years became and avid QVC watcher and surprised the family with many birthday and Christmas gifts from her favorite “channel”.

More importantly Mom cared about people.  She could and would strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, at anytime.  Her family and friends were also very special to her and visiting with them.  She loved the Lord and continually and faithfully prayed for the needs of family and friends.

Finally, reaching the ago of 90, her final goal, on November 17, 2017 she peacefully went home to be with Jesus.

Elaine was a dear, kind, gentle and sweet lady and will be deeply missed.
