Marie Childress

Marie P. Childress, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was called into GOD’s glorious Kingdom on November 5, 2017.

She was born to Antoine and Marie Josephine Eugenio in Algiers, Algeria, October 1, 1926. She grew up in Algiers and during WWII after the American’s landed in Algeria.  She attend many dances with her cousins where the GI’s would attend as well. It was at one of those dances that she met her first husband, Sgt. First Class (Military Police) Frank E. Duhamel. They married in Algiers and shortly thereafter moved to the States.

Their marriage produced two daughters. A very short while later, she moved her parents to the States to join her and her husband.

She lived in Minnesota for a short while then moved to Seattle, WA, when her husband was transferred to Fort Lawton.

After moving to Seattle, she worked for Crow Roofing for almost 40 years where she ultimately met and married her 2nd husband, Buford Childress.

Her love of Jesus Christ guided her thoughts and actions throughout her years. She loved life and most importantly, she loved her family.

She remained in Seattle until her passing. She leaves behind many loving and insightful memories.

Marie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Buford Childress; her daughters Marie Elaine Zimmerman and Elise Annette Smith; son-in-law Matthew Smith; grandchildren Lucas Jacob Zimmerman and Natalie Marie Smith;  great granddaughter, Ezra Marie Zimmerman; along with many friends and extended family in France.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at St. Matthews Catholic Church located at 1240 NE 127th, Seattle, WA, 98125;  Reception immediately following Mass at the Church Community Center.

Burial will be immediately following the Reception at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery located at 205 NE 205th Street, Shoreline, WA 98155.
