Frank E Sala

Frank E. Sala, 80 passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Evergreen Adult Family Homes. Seattle, Washington.

Frank lived his life on Rose Hill in Kirkland, Washington, where he graduated from Lake Washington High School in 1956.

Frank is survived by his wife, Judith; his sister, Sandra Nelson; his children, Yvonne (Ron) Jones of Kirkland, John Sala of Issaquah; four grandchildren, Katie, Kirstin, Kevin and Andrew; and eight great-grandchildren, Aidan, Hunter, Kellen, Ryder, Scarlett, Autumn, Ava, and Emma.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Velma Sala; his brothers Robert Sala and Richard Sala.

 

Frank was born on September 22, 1937.

Frank – Graduation

As a young adult, he served in the National Guard Reserve for  8 years. He went to work for Boeing in 1956 and went on to contribute in many areas of the company as a machinist until he retired in 1995.

He enjoyed working on cars; he built a dune buggy and various other automobiles.

Frank pursued woodworking and building. He built his home, and a cabin in the San Juan Islands, where he served as president of the Center Island Association and was instrumental in getting a state of the art water system installed on the island.

Frank loved the outdoors, fishing, boating, camping and especially crabbing in the San Juan Islands.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation (https://nwpf.org/give/  ) in Frank’s name would be welcomed.

 

His memorial will be held on November 19th at 2:00 PM at Lake Washington Methodist Church, 7257-132nd Ave NE, Kirkland, WA 98033
