Rex Downs

Rex-1Rex was born October 24,1955 in Renton, Washington. And was the only son of Oran G. Downs and Virginia M. Downs. Rex survived by Oran G. Downs, Judy Downs and 3 sisters, Donna Routt, Eva Dorey, and Rhonda Baxter.

Rex grew up with a house full of sisters, Donna the oldest by 5 years, followed by Eva 3 years younger and Rhonda the youngest by 7 years. Being the only boy he had an infinity to animals of all kinds, but especially snakes, lizards, Iguana’s much to mom’s and older sister’s chagrin and even loved to be called Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Rex had a rough few years and made some serious mistakes he always regretted, but he turned his life around. He celebrated 23 years of sobriety this year. And as an active member of AA he was always helping someone, never turning down anyone who needed help.

Rex kept himself busy with his work at McMillan-Piper as a Forklift Driver for over 20 years. Always talking about his friends, guitars and Iguana’s and was a proud member of the Teamsters. And when he was not working you could always find him walking his Iguana on sunny days at the park or going to different functions to show and educate people on the care of Lizards and Iguana.

Rex had a big heart. He didn’t hold grudges and helped people whenever he could. Whether it was helping someone move, helping his neighbors mowing lawns, or just hanging out playing the guitar.

March 20, 2016, Rex passed on at the young age of 60, leaving a large hole in our lives, relatives and friends, even in his Iguana, Angus.

Rex was by no means perfect, but he loved God, and today he is with the Lord. He was an honest man with a big heart, and will always be missed. We love you Rex, and someday, we will see you again.
