Elsie Morlock Murphy

Elsie Morlock Murphy, age 95, died on March 24, 2015 in Kirkland, WA.

 

She was born in Baltimore, MD, on September 2, 1919 and spent her early years there, and in Washington D.C. where she worked for the Federal Government during World War II.

 

Elsie married John Jay Murphy in 1948 and they moved to the West Coast, raising their three daughters in Bellevue, WA. Elsie and Murph were married for forty years until his death in 1988.

 

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and loved to travel. Elsie worked as a volunteer at Friends of Youth and Eastside Community Aid Thrift Shop. A charter member of Emerald Heights Retirement Community, she lived there for 22 years.

 

Survivors are daughters Donna Murphy, of Redmond,WA, Sharon (Patrick) Humphrey of Valley Center,CA, and Kathleen (Shawn) Murray of Chelan, WA. Two granddaughters, Erin Murray Sanchez (Jason), The Woodlands, TX and Kelly Murray, Denver, CO. Two greatgrandchildren, Brady and Ryan Sanchez.

A memorial service will be held at St John’s,Episcopal Church, at four p.m. in the afternoon, Saturday April 18, 2015.
