Evelyn M Foster

Evelyn M Foster, 85, of Bellevue, WA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, surrounded by her family. Evie was born April 12, 1929, in Elizabeth, NJ and attended the University of Vermont. She was predeceased by her first husband, Oscar Mauterer (USAF, Missing In Action). She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Charles (Chuck) Foster; daughter, Pam Cain; son, Randy Mauterer (Erin); grandchildren Matt (Colleen), Mandy, Madelyn and Marguerite; great-grandchild, Brooks; and many others she considered family.

Evie taught underprivileged teens in Alexandria, VA. Throughout her life, she was a selfless and compassionate volunteer who championed animals and those with serious illnesses. For years her efforts at Overlake Hospital’s Cancer Center and with the Overlake Medical Center Foundation and Auxiliaries inspired others with her message of hope, courage and strength.  Always giving, Evie had an incredible spirit, never showing how tough life became even during her own battles with cancer.

When not volunteering, Evie could be found Scarves Up at a Sounders match or with a crossword puzzle or mystery novel. She was well-known for her sophisticated style, creative decorating and homemade culinary concoctions! Evie and Chuck developed many close friendships during their travels abroad and treasured their visits with family all over the U.S.

Her memorial celebration will be held at Novelty Hill-Januik Winery, 14710 Woodinville-Redmond Rd, NE, Woodinville on Friday, March 27, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. A Life Celebration program will begin at 6:15. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Overlake Medical Center Foundation and Auxiliaries, http://www.overlakehospital.org/support-overlake/make-a-donation/ or The Seattle Humane Society (Bellevue), http://www.seattlehumane.org/.
