Margaret Louise “Peggy” Casson

1Margaret Louise “Peggy” Casson, passed away on August 21, 2014, in Kirkland, WA. Peg was born in Renton, WA, to Herman and Helen Peach, July 27, 1928. She attended Lake Washington High School, and graduated from Whitman College with a degree in English.
She married Thomas T. Martin in 1950. They made a home in Kirkland before moving to their home in Potlatch, WA, on Hood Canal. They raised 4 children and had many adventures, most of which centered on boating and camping. In 1973, following the destruction of their home in a fire, they re-built their home with the help of friends and family.
2In 1984, a widow, she re-connected with a college-mate, Russ Casson. They soon married, and enjoyed many world travels and voyages aboard their Nordic Tug. They built a home on Maury Island, where their garden was a fixture on the Vashon/Maury garden tour.
Peg had a quick wit, a love of learning, and that “Peach twinkle” in her eye. She was a generous spirit who loved gardening, traveling, theatre, and good conversation and laughter with friends and family. She was known to zestfully complete the Sunday Times crossword in pen. Most of all, she was a voracious reader, a love that she passed on to her children and grandchildren.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Russ Casson, her sons Robert, Charles (Mary Anne), and Sam Martin(Lori), daughter Katie Martin(Tanya), stepsons Murray and CJ (Teresa) Casson, grandchildren Jill, Joe, Charlie, Laura, David, Kyle, Rose, Hannah and Hamish Martin, Karah Rondestvedt and Erin Yanak, brothers Charles (Lois) and Bernard Peach, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Aegis of Kirkland at 3 PM on Sunday, September 7.
Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association
