Carol June Sinnett
Carol June Sinnett, 67, of Renton, Washington, passed away March 12, 2014 at Valley Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Born in Hackensack, New Jersey on June 28, 1946, Carol was the daughter of the late Navy sailor, Claude Bertheas and his wife Alice Bertheas; and granddaughter of French and Russian immigrants. She spent her childhood in New Jersey and Oregon before her family settled in Burien, Washington.
A tennis and accordion player, and member of the International Order of the Rainbow girls in her youth, she met her future husband, Daniel Sinnett, in a chance encounter at McDonalds. They were both 1964 graduated of Highline High School. After one date he knew she would be the love of his life. The couple flirted through letters for nine months during Dan’s deployment with the Navy. Dan proposed three weeks after returning to the states, then promptly left for another nine month deployment. After Dan’s return in 1968 they married at 21 years old and settled down to start a family.
Carol was a devoted wife and mother. She enriched the lives of her three daughters; Jenine, Michelle, and Denise; as their Girl Scout leader, PTA member, and outdoor enthusiast. Her leadership in Girl Scouts left an influential impression on her daughters, with two of them current leaders themselves. As a PTA member, Carol was a founding member of the Issaquah Schools Foundation, an organization that has provided over $3 million to support Issaquah’s schools. Her love for camping and fishing brings fond memories of weekends by the Cle Elum river making s’mores while chatting with friends around the campfire. Her husband will miss his favorite fishing and traveling companion.
In addition to her husband and three daughters, Carol is survived by 9 grandchildren, two brothers, a sister, and many fond nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Lupus Foundation of America (www.Lupus.org) would be appreciated.
Carol’s life will be celebrated at a 10:00am graveside service at Tahoma National Cemetery followed by a 2:00pm memorial service at St. Anthony’s Church in Renton on Wednesday, March 19th.
