Dorrels Prudence Wich (Sessions)

Dorrels Prudence Wich (Sessions), 81, passed beautifully and peacefully near her home in Kirkland on December 31, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorrels Prudence was born in Munday Texas, March 22, 1932 to her mother Sara Prudence and father Chester Burwell Sessions.  Dorrels grew up in Munday with her parents and Brother Harmon and spent summers on her Gran dad’s farm. She remembered these times fondly and had many stories. She lost her father ‘Burwell’ as a young girl and during these summers on the farm when she would get homesick for her Mom, she would “borrow” her Gran Dad’s tractor and drive back into town to see her. Independent, caring, strong willed and brave.

She graduated from Vernon High School and attended college at University of North Texas in Denton. After college she dabbled in modeling and worked for American Airlines as a reservationist. It was then that she met her husband Thomas John Wich at a private club in Fort Worth.

Tom fell instantly in love with her unique mix of total glamour and wild abandon. On their first date she accompanied Tom to a River Boat cocktail party. She joining the reverie of the party, a non-swimmer and elegantly dressed, tied a rope around her waist and jumped from the River Boat into the river. He was hooked.

After marrying and having their first child, Lynette Prudence, the couple spent time in Seattle and Los Angeles and then returned to the Northwest where they had their second daughter Annette Dorrels.  It was then that they settled and raised their family at the ‘Lake House’ in Kirkland, Washington. She kept a beautiful house and provided love and comfort for her family.  Many gourmet meals, parties, house guests (International and domestic), three knuckle scotches, Christmas Eve dinners, Juanita High School wins, sunsets at table two, jumps off the dock, boat rides, and games of ‘Horse’ were celebrated there. Her beautiful home, which she and Tom created, was open to everyone who entered through its doors. Loyal, elegant, devoted.

56 wonderful years of marriage gave her, as she said, ‘A wonderful, full life. It was a wild ride’.

Dorrels is survived by her loving and devoted husband Thomas John Wich of Kirkland; daughter Lynette Wich of Los Angeles, daughter Annette Griffith of Kirkland; grandson Garret Griffith and Grand Daughter Kira Griffith and their father Troy Griffith; plus many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Prudence and Burwell and brother Harmon Sessions.

The entire family would like to thank the Caregivers, Nurses and Doctors for their love and care and would like to extend an extra special thank you to the Doctor and nurses on duty her final evening.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. January 18, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue, Washington.  In lieu of flowers the family asks instead that donations be made to your favorite charity.

Sacred Heart Church, 9460 NE 14 Street, Bellevue. WA 98004.

    Mrs. Wich,

We never met but I feel I know you through your daughters. Your character and grace live on in them, clear evidence of a life well spent. You made the world a better place, please don’t stop! Godspeed to you and your family.

Blessed to call Annette my friend and have admired the resilience and character of Mrs. Wich. I know she will be watching over her family every day with great pride. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Recently I have been working on my geneology and Dorrels Sessions Wich was so loved by my mother Rue Del Brewster (Peysen) Roberts. I contacted all the relatives I could last August when my mother Rue Del died 08162013. She and Dorrels were first cousins, and she always talked about how beautiful her mom Prudence was, and Dorrels was also. Today I decided to google Dorrels Sessions and I see that she, too, is no longer alive. I regret I never met her or talked to her. Now there is only one member of the Sessions family living, as far as I understand. My prayers are with the family.
