Margaret Kathryn Landon
Margaret Kathryn Landon, age 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 19,2013 at Evergreen Hospice Services in Kirkland WA. Margaret’s children and grandchildren were at her side.
She was born on December 9, 1913 in Spokane WA to John James Gauss and Kathryn (Flynn) Gauss. After short stays in Spokane, Bellingham and Olympia, Margaret became a lifetime Seattle area resident.
As a teenager Margaret helped her family by working at her father’s Law Office. In 1935, upon graduation from Dietz Business College, Margaret began her work career as a stenographer for the State of Washington, Department of Labor and Industries. In 1940 Margaret started a new life marrying George Landon. Margaret and George were blessed with five children.
Her beloved George passed away in 1978 after 38 years of marriage.
In 1965 Margaret resumed her work career at Boeing and then later at the City of Seattle, Department of Public Health, where she stayed until she retired in 1981.
She is survived by her children Marie Gimarelli, Diane (Dave) Aldridge, George (Susan) Landon and Patti (Dave) Wheelock. She had 11 grandchildren – Vince Gimarelli, Joann (Isenhart) Barnard, Joel Isenhart, Jeff Aldridge, Shelli (Aldridge) Rossow, Christopher Landon, Ryan Landon, Aaron Landon, Chad Wheelock, Curt Wheelock and Ashley (Wheelock) Bolof. Also 20 great-grandchildren, Lauren and Nicholas Gimarelli, Alec and Austin Barnard, Jenika and Jaycee Isenhart, Amanda, Kayla and Michael Aldridge, Cassie and Nathan Rossow, Nolan, Maxwell and Reed Landon, Kaeli and Grace Margaret Landon, Collin and Madisyn Wheelock, Remmi and Rylan Bolof.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, daughter Theresa, sister Kathryn, sons-in-law Joel C. Isenhart and Ron Gimarelli.
Margaret was always thinking of others without consideration of herself; assisting co-workers and providing for neighbors and family. She will be missed by all friends and family.
Recitation of the Rosary will be Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 6:30 P.M., and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 24, at 11 A.M., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 7355 120th Ave NE Kirkland, WA. A reception after the Mass will be followed by burial at Holyrood Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Evergreen Hospice Center for the loving care they provided Margaret during her last days.

We have the most wonderful memorys of Margaret. she made us laugh and have fun, Margaret was a real classey lady, and she passed that class and integraty on to her children and grandchilderen. The world is a better place for her having been here, And I learned a lot from her and feel blessed to have known Maegaret. We will miss her.You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Ted and Jackie
Grandma Margaret was always present in our lives, even when not in our company. She will remain so. Our thoughts and prayers are with our entire family today as we gather to say goodbye. We wish we could have been there to join you.
