James Haubrick

Jim was born in Graceville, Minn. Jan 15th, 1937 to Mary Margaret (Welch) Haubrick and Leonard A. Haubrick.  He lived in Beardsley, Minn. until the family moved to Hillyard, Washington in 1941 and to Dishman, Washington in 1944.  Jim attended Gonzaga Preparatory School in Spokane and graduated in 1955.  He moved to Seattle, attended Seattle University and graduated in 1959 with a degree in Business Administration.  He worked for the State of Washington for 30 years as a state tax auditor.  Jim was active in political affairs and owned several private businesses including rental homes and a small commercial lot.  Jim first married Leanne Morrison Nov. 11th, 1961 and fathered James (Jim Jr.) and later married Shirley Hedin May 14th, 1971 and fathered Ted.  Jim passed away Oct 23th, 2012.  He is survived by his sons James Michael (Jim Jr.) and Ted Leonard, brother-in-law Howard Swenson and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Jean (Hedin)

(06/28/2010), parents and sisters Margaret (Croteau) and Patricia (Swenson).  The family wishes to express their appreciation to Ricky, Razak, Chuck, & Rina for their care during Jim’s long illness.  A funeral Mass will be held Friday Nov. 2nd, 11am, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 7045 120th Ave. NE, Kirkland, WA.  Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim’s (James’) memory to (in no particular order):

  • Knights of Columbus of Holy Family Parish in Kirkland (via Holy Family Parish in Kirkland),
  • Holy Family Parish in Kirkland,
  • Stroke or heart research,
  • Red Cross, or
  • A charity of your choice.

    I will remember Jim as being someone who was always ready and willing to share his life’s wisdom. He seemed to always care about me and my family. I am grateful to have known him. May he rest in peace.
