FRANCES WEBSTER

Born to a large Catholic family, Frances was the youngest of 9 children.  As a young woman, she never failed to bring energy and enthusiasm to every aspect of her life.  In her faith, she was unflinchingly devout; in her education, she was exceptionally disciplined; and as a dutiful daughter, she was always loving and supportive.  While attending college at Seattle University, Frances met her future husband Walter E. Webster Jr., who would later serve on the Washington State Court of Appeals, forever earning himself the title “The Judge” and subsequently, Frances the title of “The Judge’s Wife”. They were Married in 1951 and lived in Washington DC while Walter finished his education.

Frances worked as a nurse after graduating college until she and Walter were blessed with their first child.  What love and joy Frances had brought to her earlier years, quickly translated into her new roles as wife and mother.  She had nine children while living in Seattle and moved to the open space of Bellevue, WA in the 1960’s.  There she spent many years raising them and serving as a long term member of her Church and greater community.  Needless to say, it was never a dull moment at the Webster’s house in Diamond ‘S’ Ranch where Walter and Frances took great pride in being able to provide a life full of opportunity and adventure for their loved ones.

In her later years, Frances developed a love for fashion and the arts; a passion which she bestowed on her family and friends.  Indeed, there was not an aisle of Nordstrom’s that Frances had not visited and it was no small coincidence that her Bellevue home provided easy access to local boutiques, gourmet chocolates, and fresh baked goods.  Even as she became ill, Frances’ faith and love for her family always shined through.

After 53 years of marriage, The Honorable Walter E. Webster Jr. died in 2004.  Her two sons, Daniel Webster and Walter (Corky) Webster III also predeceased her, but were forever with her in life, and now in death.

Frances is survived by her children, Deborah (Tim) Mulvihill of Kirkland, Mark (Susie) Webster of Woodinville, Michael (Linda) Webster of Kirkland, Rita (Steve) Webster-Hirsh of Carnation, Charles (Susan) Webster of Kirkland, Frances (Deren) Hirsch of Kingston and Mary Jo Webster of Bellevue; and ten beautiful grandchildren.

A celebration of Frances’ life will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 9460 NE 14th Bellevue, WA, Friday, October 12th at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances and donations can be made to Seattle Children’s Hospital.  Children’s Hospital Foundation, PO Box 50020 / S-200, Seattle, WA 98145-5020.
