James Allan Moe

James Allan Moe

James Allan Moe, was born on April 25, 1936 in Superior, WI to Edith Borg and Peter Ankar Moe. The last remaining of the six Moe children (Patricia, John, Beverly, Edie and Jerry).  Jim graduated from Superior High School in 1954 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

After spending some time in the Army National Guard, Jim joined Great Lakes Overseas in Chicago, Illinois as a young and talented manager. It was during this time that Jim met his wife of 44 years, Ilene Brune, and soon celebrated the births of his daughters Elizabeth and Karin. Over the several decades that followed the family’s happy time in Chicago, advancing career opportunities led Jim, Ilene and the girls from Chicago to Baltimore, Maryland, by way of a brief stint in Norway and on to Seattle where Jim ultimately retired from “K” Line America and the shipping business he loved.

A devoted and supportive husband, father and grandfather, Jim was deeply committed to this family. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Ilene, daughters Elizabeth and Karin, grandchildren Grace, Maggie, Noah and Peter, and his sons-in-law John Bruels and Ben Straley.
