Adeline Rhen

Adeline Lois Rhen, 84, passed away on Monday, March 05, 2012 in her home at the High Desert Assisted Living facility in Bend, OR where she was a resident.

Adeline was born in Leonard, MN on March 10, 1928, the daughter of Lewis and Annie (Melhus) Johnson.  She married Yngve Rhen of Leonard on April 28, 1947 and lived, with her family in Leonard until 1966.  She and her family relocated to Burns, OR in 1966 and finally to Lakeside, OR in 1968.  She and Yngve lived in Lakeside until 2003 moving to Bend, OR to live closer to her daughter, Karen Duczeminskyj.

Adeline was confirmed at the Seljord Lutheran Church and attended country school. She was a communicant of the Zion Lutheran Church in Leonard and active in the Ladies Aid Society. She was also active in the church Luther League.   She was a member and officer in the Woman’s American Legion Auxiliary in Leonard.

While in Lakeside, OR Adeline attended the Lakeside Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir for many years.  She was a member and officer in the Lakeside Senior Center.  While living in Lakeside, Adeline lived near her son Douglas, her parents Lewis and Annie, her sisters Bonnie and Joann, brothers Larry and Arthur.  She enjoyed embroidery, baking, reading, singing and visiting friends and family for coffee.

Adeline and Yngve moved to Bend, OR and were together until May of 2004 when he passed away.  She stayed in her home until 2011 and then moved to the High Desert Assisted Living facility.  She was very much loved by her new friends and staff.

Adeline is survived by her daughter, Karen and Stanley Duczeminskyj of Bend, OR.,  brother Larry and Nancy Johnson of Florence, OR., and brother Arthur and Dinah Johnson of Pismo Beach, CA.  Also, grandchildren Mark and Graceann Duczeminskyj of Avenel, NJ; Kari Duczeminskyj of Engelwood, CO;  Janie (Rhen) and Liel Nicodemus of Enumclaw, WA; Kim (Rhen) and Tim Keeton of Sisters, OR; Derrick and Olivia Rhen of Weiser, ID; Denee (Rhen) and Derrick Currant of Payette, ID; and Dara (Rhen) and TJ Favinger of Weiser, ID.  Adeline is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Yngve in 2004 and son, Douglas in 2010, parents, Lewis and Annie Johnson, her sisters Joann and Bonnie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at her daughter’s home in Bend, OR on March 31, 2012.  Plans for a memorial service are in planning for late spring or early summer in Leonard, MN.
