William Shearer

William Shearer passed away peacefully on November 17 surrounded by his family. Bill was born in Springfield, Oregon on April 13, 1942, the youngest of six boys, to Fred and Grace Shearer and at the age of three, the family moved to Boise, Idaho. He grew up on the family farm and remembers he and his brothers taking vegetables to sell to local businesses/merchants. The family eventually moved to the city.

Bill attended local elementary schools, graduated from Boise High School and is also a graduate of Boise State Jr. College. He enlisted in the Air Force and received his honorable discharge in 1967. He married the love of his life, Louise, in August of 1968. The couple moved to Seattle where Bill worked for the Boeing Company and also served in the insurance industry for nearly 20 years. He also studied massage therapy and became a licensed masseuse.

He is predeceased by parents, Fred and Grace Shearer, brothers Bob, Duane, Fred and Jack and several nieces and nephews. He leaves behind, his lovely wife of 43 years, Louise, and sons, Damon and Jonathan. He also leaves behind, his brother, Donald, of Boise, Idaho.

Bill was active in Scouting for many years. His hobbies included woodworking, crafts, crossword puzzles and reading. He also was a great cook and enjoyed tweaking new recipes. He was especially fond of molasses and peanut butter cookies and dark chocolate brownies.

He enjoyed going to Edmonds, getting a latte from the gals at Brewed Awakening and stopping at the waterfront to watch the birds and do a crossword. Bill loved animals, and was especially fond of owls.

He looked forward to and loved family trips to the ocean and Long Beach, Washington was a favorite vacation spot.

He was a devoted husband and caring father and his family will miss him greatly. He took great pride in his family as they were top priority in his life.

The family wishes to thank the Evergreen Hospice Care Center for their warmth, comfort and care given to Bill during his stay there.

A memorial service will be held on December 10th at 11:00am in the chapel at St. Thomas More Parish, 6511 176th Street SW, Lynnwood, WA 98037.
