H Leigh Hill
In the early hours of July 7, 2011, H Leigh Hill passed quietly away in the Health Care Center at Judson Park in Des Moines, WA. Leigh was born in Tacoma, WA on June 18, 1923, the son of Harry John Hill and Clara L. Loss. He grew up in the Bellevue and Kent area with his parents and sister, Margery.
Leigh attended Kent High School and graduated in 1941. After high school, Leigh attended the University of Washington joining Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity until he went into the United States Navy during WW2. Leigh met his wife Dorothy Bow in high school and they were married on June 28, 1946, in Kent, WA. Following his discharge from the Navy, he went back to the UW graduating in Civil Engineering in 1947. He joined the telephone company in 1947 and retired in 1983 after 36 years.
Dorothy and Leigh moved often within western Washington finally retiring to their summer home on Roshilla Beach,Vashon-Maury Island. Leigh enjoyed his free time there being involved with the Dockton Water Assoc. and membership at the Vashon-Maury Golf and Country Club. Recently they moved to Judson Park Retirement Community in Des Moines, Washington.
Leigh is survived by his wife, Dorothy of 65 years; sons Thomas L. Hill (Roberta), Indio, CA: John H. Hill (Amy), Sammamish, WA; daughter, Marilyn Hill Allen (Gary), Normandy Park, WA; Grandchildren, Michael (Laura) Hill; Melanie Hill, Eric, Molly & Riley Hill, David & Bradley Allen; Great Grandson, Isaiah Hill; and sister Margery Crawford of Seattle; and many nieces and nephews.
He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent, WA. Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity. A small family memorial at his request.
