William K. Erickson

William K. Erickson known affectionately as Candyman, of Yelm Washington, died peacefully on May 5, 2011, with family and friends by his side following complications after emergency surgery.

Bill was born January 7, 1931, in Damsite Missouri, son of late Everett Erickson and Erma L Marsh. He was the youngest of four siblings.

He served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant, and met his late wife Angela Erickson while on tour in Europe. He proudly served his country for many years, including two back to back deployments in Vietnam.  After his retirement from the military, he was employed by Timberline High School as a custodian until his civilian retirement. He was well known in Yelm as the Candyman because of his kindness and generosity to others, and he enjoyed giving toys to children, especially those in need. He was very adept at playing the toy machines at the local stores, and could often be seen filling bags with toys to give away. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and left behind the cherished baseball glove that he pitched a no-hitter game in. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed the outdoors and nature. He adopted and cared for many animals throughout his lifetime, which all lived long and happy lives. He also provided much  love, support and encouragement to his daughter Susanne through her many years of illness and she knew she could talk to him about anything.

He is survived by three daughters, two son-in-laws, 8 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and his beloved animals, Billy Boy. Pugsley and Blackie.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Angela Erickson, and his brothers and sister.
