James A. Toman


James A. Toman passed peacefully at home on Sept. 10, 2010.

He was born to Mary and James Toman in Newcastle, WA on August 11, 1917.

After graduating from Renton High School in 1935 James served a welding apprenticeship of four years at Boeing.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and married his high school sweetheart, Babe, later that year.
He attained the rank of Chief prior to an honorable discharge in 1945.                                       

James returned to Renton and resumed his work as a welder for Boeing. He retired a General Foreman of the weld & duct shop after 35 years.

James, an avid outdoorsman, and Babe spent a lifetime enjoying hunting and fishing in the great Northwest & Canada.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Babe; daughters Judy Nichols, Mary Schultz and Jean Wilcoxen; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to his service which will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 15 at 12:30 PM.
