Melvin Chapman, August 2 2008

Melvin L Chapman II went home to be with the Lord Saturday August 2, 2008 at the age of 50.  He was born November 28, 1957 in Campbell River BC to Melvin L Chapman and Jeanne (Richardson) Chapman.  He was raised and attended school in Bellingham, WA

 

Upon graduation Mel joined the Marine Corps.  He married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn Neyens and they raised their two children Eric and Jennifer in Marysville, WA.  Melvin was a longtime member of the Operating Engineers local 302.  He was an active member of Everett First Baptist Church.  He was also very actively involved in his children’s lives, constantly supported their interests, coached their sports team and led their scout groups.

 

Melvin is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathryn, children, Eric & Jennifer. Eric’s fiancé, Roni, grand daughter, Ally.  Mother, Jeanne (Mel) Marcoux, Step mother, Win Chapman, Siblings, Sharon (Tom) Rueckert, Debbie (Mick) Pfeiffer, Billie (Bill) Escherich, Robert (Kathy) Csolti, Cathy (Dean) Dotson, and Dawn (Dennis) Williams, Mother-in-Law, Lucille Neyens, Brothers-in-Law, Duane (Jane) Neyens, Loren (Diane) Neyens and Brian (Cheri) Neyens, and several Nieces and Nephews.  Mel was preceded in death by his Father, Melvin L. Chapman and Father-in-Law, J Darrell Neyens.

 

Mel is remembered by many as a fun spirited and loving person with a big heart, and a generous giver.

 

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Everett First Baptist Benevolent Fund and the American Cancer Society.  Services will be held at Everett First Baptist Church, 1616 Pacific Avenue, on Saturday August 9th at 10:00am.

    I am sorry to see that Mel has passed on would like to know what took him. He was a great guy I had wrestled with him in High School. My name is Ralph Harvey I wish I could have been around. I would like to see if you could e-mail me back or you can find me with a facebook page.
