Christopher H. Williams passed away in Lacey, WA, surrounded by his family on November 23, 2013 at the age of 65. He was born March 20, 1948 in Troy, NY to George and Esther Williams. Chris was the oldest son of 16 children.
Chris served in the United States Army as a radio operator from 1967-1970. He was stationed both in Thailand and Alaska during the Vietnam War.
Chris married his wife Mitzann, in 1977 in Des Moines, WA. He worked for United Airlines for 36+ years and the Highline School District for 6+ years. He taught three years at Des Moines Elementary and subbed for 3 years.
He is predeceased by his mother, Esther Williams. Chris is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mitzann; four daughters, Sarah, Amy (George Reimiller), Rachel, and Allison; son, Johnathan; grandson, Levi Reimiller, father and mother, George & Marilyn Williams; 10 brothers; 5 sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed tennis, golf, old movies, collected LP’s, baseball cards, an avid reader and loved to watch his kids play sports. He enjoyed going to Cannon Beach every November with friends.
His sense of humor and generous spirit will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held on December 15, 2013 at 3:00 PM — at Grace Baptist Church, 2507 N. Vassault, Tacoma WA 98406. A committal will be held on December 20, 2013 at Tahoma National Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

Dear Mitzann, children and extended family of Chris’:
We both went to High School with Chris (and Jerojia) and considered Chris a great friend over the years, even when we were out of touch. He did have a wonderful sense of humor, was such a dedicated worker, a proud family man and absolutely so proud of his children. We were so thrilled that he could attend PLU and get his teaching degree as he loved to teach and had the patience for it. It was with such sadness we visited him for the last time just soon after he was moved to the home…he knew us without prompting and we talked a lot about the HS days and old time friends. He is no longer agitated, he is at peace and he is looking down on all of you with love. May all the memories you share help to ease this sorrow you have today and we will all see him again someday. Peace to you and God Bless you all.

Have heard so many wonderful stories about Chris from his daughter Allison. Though you will be missed, greatful that you are now in the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ.
It was wonderful and amazing growing up with the Williams next door to us, and Chris was a wonderful man, who not only put up with the multiple blanket forts we made outside, but did so with a smile and kind words. I’m very sorry that I will be unable to attend the service, but you all are in my thoughts.

I have just gotten to know Mitzann and her family this year and send my deepest condolences and pray for peace and warmth for them. I remember Chris because he subbed at North Hill when I worked there and he was a very nice man and you could tell that he loved teaching the children. Mitzann, you have been a rock and I admire you and send a request for an angel to be with you and your family this holiday season. Daniel and I will be able to make it to the service to remember your wonderful husband.

My deepest condolences to all of your beautiful family! I have some great memories of Chris, especially when I had him sub in my class! I knew my class was left in great hands and that the kids would have a fun day with Mr. Williams! I also remember his humor, smile, and kahlua cream-cream puffs! Mitzann-I love you and admire you for your strength! You and Chris were an example of the type of relationship I want to have-you were such a loving couple!

Although you and your family bear the heaviest burden, many others share the sorrow of your loss. Chris was a remarkable man of resilience and grace.
I have know the Williams family for over 40 years ~ first as a teacher at Des Moines Elementary School for several of his siblings, then as teacher to all five of his amazing children. He was a wonderful, caring and dedicated parent. Most recently I worked with both Chris and Mitzann at the school. Chris was a great addition to our faculty bringing his intelligence, wit and humor (as well as his famous cream puffs) to all of us, students and staff alike. Well, I don’t know if the students got cream puffs. Maybe…
The thread of life is fragile. No matter how long a loved one has been with us, his loss comes too soon.
Throughout his life Chris touched many lives. He will live on in our hearts and be long-remembered. You have our deepest sympathy.

I just learned through a mutual friend of Chris’ passing. I went to CWU with Chris and we both did our Practicum teaching experience at Des Moines Elementary. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Chris was always friendly, caring and fun to be around. His cream puffs were definitely legendary. I will be keeping Chris and the rest of his family in my thoughts and prayers.
