Brenda Louise Potts
Brenda Louise Potts went home to our Lord on August 17, 2013 after a long challenge with cancer. Born Brenda L. Schimmel in Seattle on July 10, 1961, she graduated from Bothell High School in the class of 1979. At school she enjoyed volleyball, art and volunteering as a candy striper. She went on to work at Pay n’ Save and Bartell Drugs for over thirty years. While at Bartell’s she enjoyed waiting on many wonderful customers in camera and cosmetics. Brenda’s sister, Jo, nicknamed her “B” and she liked it because it made her “feel special”.
Remembered by all who knew her as kind and patient, she often helped people without them knowing it and most often without acknowledgement. She loved taking photographs especially of her children, Robbie and Amy. Every year she created a family pictorial calendar to commemorate trips, holidays and special events. She loved listening to music performed by her children in school band. She had a devoted relationship to her church, Evergreen Community Church in Bothell, WA. As a church member she enjoyed volunteering in support of the Awanna children’s program. For fun, she and her children often attended the summer movies by the lake in Kirkland. Brenda’s favorite times were Christmas and the Fourth of July. Brenda and her children enjoyed seeing the Christmas lights at Warm Beach and at Evergreen Church. She also really loved shooting off fireworks with her Dad creating their own displays. Among her favorite items she collected during her life was a glow in the dark cross that her god mother Mamie, gave her. She also took special care of the Barbie Dolls she had since childhood.
She will be missed by her children Robert and Amy Potts, her mother and stepfather Wanda and Boyd Cochran, her sister Jo Cochran and her nieces Shaleena Owens and Christina Cochran. She leaves behind many loving family members including mother- in- law Nancy Potts and step mother Dee Schimmel and many others in the Weber, Schimmel, Cochran and Potts families, as well as many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father Don Schimmel, her former husband Robert J. Potts, and her brother Travis Cochran.
The family would like to thank Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and Evergreen Hospice for their compassionate care of our loved one. Further, we would like to thank all the friends and family who have supported her through this time.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers remembrance contributions can be made at any Chase Bank in the name of Robbie and Amy Potts. Graveside services will be held at Floral Hills Cemetery on September 6th at 3:00 pm. Life celebration services will be held at Evergreen Community Church in Bothell, WA at 2:00 pm on September 7th.

Brenda you may have gone to be with the Lord but you remain in our hearts. You look so much like my Mom and Grama Alma.
During your long battle with cancer with you have shown your children the fine examples of patience and inner strength. Ours prayers go out to Wanda, Boyd, Amy and Robbie for comfort and we ask for God’s continued guidance in the lives of Robbie and Amy.

Robbie and Amy, your mom was so proud of you and loved you so much! She was a special friend to me. Though we did not see each other much, we tried to keep in touch. I was so fortunate to be a part of her life and also able to see you two grow up through the pictures she sent out every year. Brenda will be missed and will always hold a place in my heart. My deepest sympathy to Robbie, Amy, Jo, Boyd, Wanda and the rest of Brenda’s family. To my friend Brenda, until we meet again! Love you! Merle Hamada
I just found out today that Brenda passed away. I am very sadden by this. Brenda helped me so much just by being Brenda when my husband passed away in 2004. I really enjoyed seeing her at the School concerts and up at Bartells. I hope her family is at peace knowing she is no longer in pain. Brenda you will be SO missed. My thoughts and prayers go to her family.
Just missing my sister tonight, it is a little over a year and I can still feel you here with us. I had a bee land on my heart yesterday and thought of you. I know you are happy in the arms of GOD.
