Hildur C. Chambers
Hildur was born on Sept. 22, 1921 in Eagle Lake, MN, the 3rd of five children born to Hulda E. and Christian O. Borgos. She grew up on a farm during the depression. After graduating from high school, she attended Moorehead Teacher’s college where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught in the country schools in Minnesota before going out to San Diego to join her sister, Florence, during WWII. Shortly thereafter she moved to Washington where she met her husband, Robert J. Chambers, at a local dance. They were married on July 3rd, 1954. She continued teaching, mainly in Fall City, until the birth of her first child in 1955 and then became a full time homemaker. They bought a house in Bellevue in 1958 where she lived until eventually moving into assisted living in 2006. She stayed in close touch with her sisters who also lived in the area.

We miss you Mom
Gone from our sight but forever in our hearts. I love you, Mom.
Debbie just let me know of Hildur’s passing. You ahve my deepest sympathies. Please know that my prayers and love are with you at this time. She was a terrific lady. I am so glad I had her in my life.
Hildur was a special aunt who went out of her way for her nephews and nieces as well. I remember the time she prepared a really nice meal of fish (salmon I believe) and trimmings for just David and I when I was out there on a business trip and visiting “relies”. I have many other good memories of her too. Bless you all.
We are so sorry we were unable to attend the memorial service on Friday. We remember Hildur as a kind and loving person with a great sense of humor. Peace and blessings to your family.

Dee’d, Mike, Mary, and family- you already know that you were blessed with a wonderful Mom/grandmother. This past week Dale and I have talked many times of Hildur. We even stopped in at Grue at Grandpa and Grandma Borgos’ – I was imagining the hugs and smiles going on up in heaven. Dale helped me finally put into words about the blessing we have had knowing my Aunt Hildur. Hildur and her sisters were quite alike and yet each unique. The love of family, their values of faith, right and wrong, commitment, and their deep caring for others will always be remembered in my heart. The uniqueness of Hildur was in her calmness, her smile that is so sincere and genuine (love the picture you chose!), and Hildur made everyone so welcomed. Hildur truly lived her faith, she was so servant-minded and generous. God bless you all!
Hildur, you were an amazing woman. Thank you for teaching me so many things. You tried to teach me how to make your dinner rolls but I could never master how amazingly perfect yours turned out. I was blessed to have you as a Mother-in-law and my friend. Most importantly thank you for being the kind of grandmother to my kids that everyone should have. We will miss you!
While my dad was completing his ENT residency at UW and Swedish hospital, Hildur became my first babysitter when I was born in 1975. Though we moved to La Grande Oregon shortly thereafter, my family would visit Bob and Hildur at least once or twice per year, and she became like a grandmother to me. I will always remember her kindness, her laugh, her smile.
I looked forward to seeing Hildur; she was a joy! I am sorry years late in sending my sympathy.
I can hear her giggling and laughter now. I hope you girls are doing well, and carry on with some of her creativity.
