Greg Schneider
Greg Schneider was a friend to many and loved life exuberantly. He was born on November 7, 1944, in Milwaukee, WI, and joined his Savior on June 9, 2013. An only child, Greg grew up in the Midwest. His fondest childhood memories were of fishing on Pine Lake, WI with his father and both grandfathers.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Greg served in the Air Force from 1968-1972. Later, he became a hydraulic engineer.
Greg’s passions included hunting, fishing, cross-country ski racing and sailing. For 30 years he coached and refereed soccer. He also enjoyed gardening and created a glorious back yard.
In 1998, Greg and his wife, Bonnie, moved from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest. He retired after a 34 year career in hydraulic engineering.
During his retirement, Greg became enamored with the wine industry which was beginning to blossom in Woodinville. He volunteered at many of the local wineries during bottling time. As he put it, “the greatest job of his life” was working in the tasting room and winery of Brian Carter Cellars. The employees at Brian Carter Cellars and other wineries held a special significance in Greg’s heart. The laughter, camaraderie, and passion for life united the volunteers and employees in the wine industry.
His greatest joys were his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bonnie Schneider, nee Kemmett, daughter, Jessica Hockstedler (Reed), son, Luke Schneider (Shannon), two grandchildren, two nieces, a great niece, brother in law, Tim Kemmett (Lynn), and father –in- law, Don Kemmett.
Greg was known for his sense of humor and the sparkle in his eyes. With wine in our glass and a song in our hearts, we salute you, Greg.
In lieu of flowers, please offer remembrances in honor of Greg to the American Cancer Society or Wounded Warriors.

I will miss the neighbor who said to me one day..can I start a vineyard in your backyard?
I didn t know if he was serious of not…he was.
He enjoyed taking care of the little vineyard he planted an maintained. His vineyard was like a lot things Greg did…he cared and maintained.
I will miss you old friend.
Will miss sharing a glass of wine and the laughter that was enjoyed by everyone.

I have been blessed to know Greg even though it has only been for a short while at Evergreen Church. He will be greatly missed.
I remember the 3 or 4 times we got together prior to Greg getting sick as full of laughter and fun times. He truly loved every day. He was passionate about wine, and I will always remember his introducing me to a 96 point Sauterne! (And I will never forget how much he paid for it!) I always loved Greg’s wonderful sense of humor and his love of his garden. I’m so glad he left you Bonnie with those beautiful spaces to enjoy. We will miss him…hugs and kisses, Cheryl & Steve
Greg, a special family friend shared camping, sports, vacations, favorite beverages, or a cigar while conversations lingered whether in MN orWA late into the night. Our memories are sweet! We will miss you! John and Linda
A gentle, lovely and caring man. Grew to be very fond of Greg and Bonnie over the last year, enjoyed every visit we had. He was interesting to talk to, a good listener, thoughtful and funny… I will never forget him!
