Noel Thomas Stivers
Noel Thomas “Tom” Stivers, engineer, lost his brief but courageous fight with cancer and passed away in the company of those who loved him on April 26, 2013. Comforted through the end by the gracious and loving care of his partner Marlene Kurpiewski.
Tom was born in Baltimore Md. On August 24, 1946, the second child of Milton and Betty Stivers, younger brother of Judith Eichelberger (dec.), and older brother of Pamela Tiedebohl and R. Robert Stivers.
A graduate of Baltimore’s Mergenthaler High school. Tom proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1970, serving as a machinists mate before graduating from the Naval nuclear school. His engineering career, and his passion for travel, took Tom and his wife Joann around the globe. Retiring to the Delaware shore, Tom would pursue his passions for fishing, boating, motorcycling, wood carving, and creating award-winning works of stained glass art.
After losing Joann to cancer in 2011, Tom relocated to the Pacific Northwest to be closer to his nephews Kevin and James O’Neill and their families. It was on the shores of the Puget Sound that he would meet Marlene and live surrounded by friends and family through his final days.
A Memorial Service at Tahoma National Cemetery will be announced at a later date.

We were so very privileged to have Tom in our family, even for such a brief period. We only wish we’d had more time with you Tom. You are very loved and sorely missed.
