Brenda Elaine Garrett

 October 1, 1959 ––January 6, 2012

Our beloved Brenda passed away to be with her Lord in Heaven on the morning of January 6, 2012 leaving behind her husband Rod of 27 years, and their son Matthew (21) and was preceded in passing by her father Charles, her grandparents and mother in-law Doreen Marchetti. She also leaves behind her mother Anna Puhl, sister Karen (Drew) Clancy, brothers Ken (Barb) Puhl, and Ian (Sherry) Puhl and all their children 2 nieces 4 nephews. In-Laws Ernest and Loretta Garrett, & Sherry and Dave Ellis. Plus additional extended family which includes numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends in the USA and UK.

Brenda had a heart of gold, was as beautiful inside as she was out and a blessing to everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful and devoted wife and mother, daughter and sister. She was always there, above and beyond, for anyone who needed her. She is loved beyond words and will be missed dearly.

Brenda grew up in Edmonds, Washington with her parents and siblings, attended Woodway High School where she was involved in choir and gymnastics, and went on to attend Shoreline Community College. In her high school and college years she also sang with her beautiful voice at her church and performed at weddings.

Brenda most enjoyed the simplest of things. Watching a movie with Rod and Matt, or reading a book, taking late night baths. She also loved sports football, baseball, and basketball. Brenda’s greatest joy was watching Matt play baseball and soccer. She never missed a game, yelling and screaming was her way of cheering for Matt. For many years she was the “team mom” which she took great pride and joy in.

Brenda was strong and courageous up to the end. Rarely complaining about all the pain her fragile body endured.

May we all take comfort in knowing she has gone home to Heaven to be with her Lord, joining her dad and other loved ones who’ve passed on.

She was a wonderful person and beautiful lady. We are so sad knowing that we will not meet her again in this life.

My dearest childhood best friend has gone to the Lord. Brenda really was so beautiful on the inside as well as out. We had so much fun playing everyday and having sleep overs. (mostly at her house) Even sneeking up to Aurora Village to play in the elevators of Fredrick and Nelsons and also try to get money out of news paper machines!! yes…we were sometimes little terrors!! I forever will have so many wonderful memories of my first BEST FRIEND. I also have such great memories of her family and especially her mother Anna. (i just thought she was the best) I am so blessed to have had her in my life and will only wish I had been better at keeping in touch through out the years. However, Brenda was so forgiving and always left me sweet messages on my home answering machine. I will aways have my most precious memories of the truly most beautiful human being I have ever been blessed to know. Love Carolee

A very dear sister-in-law; I will miss your smile and your laugh. You were brave, kind and joyful until the end; peace be with you, my friend. Ken and I will always remember you and Rod taking us to Scott’s to congratulate us on our engagement and then singing at our wedding and so many good memories through the years.

I can’t express how heartbreaking the loss of my sister is. Words can’t say how much I love her and miss her. I sure didn’t expect this. I suppose maybe we both took for granted that we’d live out our lives on this earth believing we would always be there for each other, as so many sisters do. It’s like a part of me is gone now. I will do my best to lean on the Lord for comfort and strength, knowing we will be reunited someday. I love, love, love you Brenda.

Brenda, it has been 35 years now since we first met outside that college classroom. We instantly bonded and became inseparable best friends. I will never forget your first airplane trip. It was like trying to give a cat a bath. Wasn’t too pretty but once you got going it as all good. Hawaii is one of my best memories with you. Soon we met Janice and became the three amigos — everything together. Jobs, marriage, kids, dogs and lots of great memories. I will miss your phone calls “hi, this is Bren – da” Just remembering how you would say that brings a smile to me. I miss you, i miss us, i love you forever.

My hugs and prayers to Matt and Rod.

    Love, Karen

Brenda, Karen and I go back over 32 years, before each of us were married and had kids. When Karen first introduced me to you, I thought you were so very beautiful, both inside and out. It puts a smile on my face remembering the great times together. Our Canada trip was one of those times where we were invited by the Conductor to the very front of the train. We were so very thrilled when we actually got to take turns driving the train. The three of us were part of each others lives for so many years. We were in each others weddings and have laughed and shared so many stories together. You loved your family and were especially proud of Matt. I will miss our morning talks and I will definitely miss you my friend. Love Janice

You are dearly missed beautiful Brenda! You will forever be a symbol of strength and grace to me. I will always remember the last time I saw you on New Year’s Eve; you were strong, hopeful, positive, with a touch of mischief! You were incredibly thoughtful to everyone, and I know I speak for all of us when I say I feel cheated for not having you here among us anymore. The comforting thought is that in your passing you were spared any further suffering.

Kevin and I send our love to you Rod and Matt, Kevin and I are so very sorry for your loss.

    Rod & Matthew –

Those we love are never really lost to us–
we feel them in so many special ways–
through friends they always cared about
    and dreams they left behind,
in the beauty that they added to our daily lives…
in the words of wisdom we carry with us every day
and memories that will be ours forever…

Melba and I were shocked and saddened to learn of Brenda’s passing. Our heartfelt condolences go out to my cousins Rod and Matt as well as Brenda’s entire family. Living on the East Coast and in the Midwest prevented us from getting to know Brenda as well as we would have liked to have. However on the few occasions we were lucky enough to spend some time with her, we both enjoyed Brenda’s company. We know her as a very nice person who will certainly be missed.

    Brenda
I have such fond memories of you my child hood friend. Playing at each others house after school, riding the bus to school, walking to class together at Woodway, singing “Follow Me” as a duet, singing in neophonics jaz ensemble and choir ~ I will never forget your beautiful voice. Your outer beauty was breathtaking and always turned heads wherever you went, however it pailed in comparrison to your inner beauty. Your life was too short and I hate that you have been taken from us but I know one day I will see you again my sweet friend.
Rod and Matt….please accept my sympathy for the wife and mother Brenda was for each of you. Mom and siblings I can not imagine how difficlult this has been for you all. I wish I could have been at the memorial to support you in your loss. You will be forever in my memories my dear Brenda!
