Robert Bartelds
He was a man with two lives. As Bob, he attended Kentwood high school (class of 1984), and was a proud Eagle Scout with a deep appreciation of Native American culture. He attended Gonzaga University and had a career as a printing press operator. He was a father of 2 boys, an avid motorcyclist, and hobby mechanic. Bob never met a Volkswagen he didn’t want to take apart and possibly not put back together. He loved rock music and had a knack for winning concert tickets from KISW.
Health issues took away his life as Bob, but he had a sort of second act as Robert. In that life, he was a much-loved member of the congregation at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church in Renton. He sang in the choir with his whole heart and will be remembered as a gentle soul who became a family member to many at the church.
Robert passed away peacefully after a brave battle with cancer. He leaves behind two sons, Ian and Jake, as well as the many folks that knew him in both lives. A celebration of life will be held on October 10 at 11 AM at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church in Renton, Washington.
