Robert Lee Scott

Born in Hot Springs, MT to Howard and Lorraine Scott, Bob moved to Shoreline, WA in 1958 when the family relocated.  Bob graduated from Shoreline High School and joined the U.S. Navy in 1963 where he trained as an aviation electrician.  He was based at NAS Whidbey Island in a seagoing A-3 squadron and was deployed during the Vietnam War on the aircraft carrier USS Constellation and shore-side at Subic Bay, Philippines.  He completed his time in the Navy and was honorably discharged in August 1967.  He was proud of his military service and was an avid supporter of veterans’ organizations.

Just 3 weeks after returning to Seattle, he married Patsy Erickson, who he first met as a teenager at the Echo Lake Bathing Beach when Pat caught him sneaking in without paying the quarter.  Pat’s family ran the bathing beach and she turned him in to her mom.  Years later they began dating and got engaged while he was in the Navy.  They built their home at Echo Lake in 1968, and Bob lived there for the rest of his life.  A few years after getting married, Bob and Pat welcomed their daughter, Kimberly.

Bob was mechanically and mathematically inclined and loved working with his hands and building things.  It seemed like he could fix anything.  He spent his career working as an ironworker and steel fabricator.  When he wasn’t at work, he’d often be working on projects for family and friends.  As a contractor, he ran Bob’s Basic Home Repair, providing reliable and affordable handyman services in the community.

He wasn’t all work and no play—he and Pat loved to travel and Hawaii was their favorite destination.  He also loved to play golf with his buddies, and if he could combine golf and travel, even better!   Bob turned his love of golf into a hobby business when he invented the Lopaka putter.  He and his best friend, Jerry Smith, had a lot of fun marketing and demonstrating the putter’s attributes at golf shows and many golf courses.

Bob and Kim shared a particularly close bond, made even more special by the good fortune of living next door to each other. They shared a love of the Huskies, Seahawks, and Mariners, watching the Blue Angels at SeaFair and annual trips to Hawaii where enjoying a Mai Tai at the Moana was part of a tradition started by Pat and Bob. They also looked forward to their weekly dinners at their favorite Mexican restaurant in Edmonds. They treasured these traditions and the time they had together.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Scott, and his parents, Howard and Lorraine Scott.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly; his nephews Michael (Janene) Erickson and family and John (Katherine) Erickson and family; his sister, Georgia Petroske; his brothers Richard Scott and Dana (Joan) Scott; and many dear friends.

A celebration of Bob’s life is being planned for a future date.
