Glen Alan Northey

Glen Alan Northey was born September 21,1948 in Bellingham Washington to Jack and Dorothea Northey.

The second of eight children, Glen was a bit of a daredevil who enjoyed playing various games with his siblings and neighbors, was involved in sports, played in the school band, and occasionally got into some mischief. There are stories of work-up baseball in the backyard with special rules, occasional broken windows, and the three oldest getting so good at hitting the ball they would allow themselves to get out so they could rest in the outfield. As a young adult, Glen often played pool at the local taverns with his brother or with friends and became quite skilled at the game. His love for the game continued until very recently.

Glen graduated from Bellingham High School and Skagit Valley College. Before enlisting in the Army he was a fry cook at Denny’s. Upon return from his service, he worked at the Turkey House where he would make breakfast to order for all of the staff upon their arrival to work. During this time, he studied welding and became a welder/Piping Specialist.

Glen was a man of faith who highly valued his family and friends. He often did things for others before thinking of himself. He was skilled in many things and used his talents to help others, never seeking credit. He was quiet and kind, quick witted and silly. Because people didn’t always suspect he had a joke at the ready it was funnier!  He was always singing or humming.

He married Sandra Dec. 4, 1976 and became father to Torri and Todd. He was a grandparent to Trittney, Taylor, Jazmine, William, and Tiffany, and a great grandparent to Zane and Zayla. The commitment and love Sandra and Glen shared along with Glen’s practical and hard-working nature allowed him to be an excellent caretaker for Sandra later in life.  When faced with life’s difficulties, Glen leaned into his faith and the peace and hope that brought him. He was logical and unruffled. He found joy and hope in the journey of a life well lived.  He was a devoted and active parent and grandparent and loved spending time with and speaking into the lives of his children, grandchildren and other family members.

Glen loved singing and leading worship.  He enjoyed cribbage, cards, pool, and various other games.  There are many Thanksgiving and Christmas memories of card games and other games after family meals. He was always a good cook. He enjoyed road trips looking for eagles, hawks, and other wildlife, walks, fishing, and watching sports.  He played co-ed softball and volleyball.

Glen peacefully entered his Heavenly home on July 14, 2026 surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters Anne, Janet, Joan, Gail, and Cora and his brother Bruce, his children Torri and Todd, his five grandchildren and their mothers Jessie and Heather, and his two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Dorothea Northey, his brother Scott Northey, and his wife Sandra Northey.

Glen was an excellent friend, brother, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
