Margaret (Paregian) Shaphren passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026 at the age of 97.  She was born in Philadelphia and always carried a love for “Philly.”  In 1944-45, her family moved to Fresno where she finished high school and then went to Fresno State.  In the early 1950s, she moved to Los Angeles with her sister, Elizabeth.  It was there that she met Bill, the love of her life, and the two were married in 1954.

Margaret and Bill, with their two sons, moved to the Palos Verdes Peninsula where they lived happily until retiring to Oakmont near Santa Rosa.  It was there that they met many dear friends and enjoyed all that “wine country” has to offer.  She loved tennis and outings with her girl friends.

Margaret worked in radiology when just out of college in Fresno, but switched to administrative work for a law firm in Los Angeles.  She took time off to raise her two boys, and then joined an accounting firm in the South Bay typing tax returns before retiring fully with the move to northern California.

Bill passed away in 2012 and Margaret stayed in Oakmont until 2016 when she moved to Bellevue, WA to be closer to her two sons’ families – Todd (Jennifer) and Brent (Betsy).  She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Margaret was proud of her Armenian background and always supported the planting of trees in Armenia.  To plant trees as a memorial, please go to www.armeniatree.org/
