Charles Papa
Charles Papa (known affectionately as Chuck), age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 11, 2026 at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland, WA. He was born on July 11, 1933 in Chicago, IL.
Chuck, along with his brothers Phillie, Carmie, Joey and his sister Rose, were raised by Charles Sr and Maria Papa in Chicago. Chuck played high school football in Chicago and college football at the University of Dubuque in Iowa. After graduating, he served 2 years in the United States Army and was stationed in Kent, WA. While in the army, he met his beloved wife, Mary Lou. They married soon after, and were married until she passed away in 2015.
Chuck had a long and successful work history with Burroughs, On-line and FiServ. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family. After he retired, Chuck and Mary Lou traveled extensively. Chuck developed prostate cancer at the start of 2025 and battled it bravely until he passed away.
Chuck was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Kirkland for 63 years. Family, faith and charity were always important to Chuck. Chuck was a devoted husband of 57 years and a loving father to 5 children and 2 grandchildren. His greatest passion was his children and grandchildren, sharing in their many accomplishments and being involved in their lives. He was also very close to the Cappelletti family, calling Billy Cappelletti his brother. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and dear friends.
Chuck is survived by his five children: Mike Papa (and daughter-in-law Marie Savoie) of Everett, WA; Terry Papa of Bellevue, WA; Scott Papa of Woodinville, WA; Janis Papa of Shoreline, WA; and Nick Papa (and daughter-in-law Arissa Peterson) of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by his 2 beloved grandchildren Alan and Ash Papa.
A funeral mass will be held 11 AM Friday, May 8, 2026 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 7045 120th Ave NE, Kirkland. A short reception at the church will follow the mass.
