Philip Sargunar

Philip Sargunar, lovingly known as Baskar, was born on January 31, 1949, in Nazareth, Tamil Nadu, India, to Charles and Violet Sargunar, and was a cherished brother to Michael Sargunar. He married Suhasini in 1975, and they spent 46 beautiful years together. God has blessed them with three daughters, sons-in-law, and seven grandchildren.

A God-fearing husband, father, and grandfather, Philip always placed Christ at the center of his life. He always found great joy in time spent with loved ones, especially during family vacations. He had a great sense of humor, passion for cooking, and enjoyed playing carrom and card games with family.

Philip had a distinguished 40-year career, where he led with integrity and served as a mentor and guide to many.

Philip lived with his eyes firmly fixed on Jesus. His deep love for God shaped his words, actions, and relationships. His life was marked by steadfast prayer and devotion to God’s Word.

Above all, Philip’s life was a testament to faith, love, and service. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as a faithful servant of God who finished his race well.

Bhaskar Mama is the heartbeat of any place that he is in — his infectious laughter filling every space he walks into, reminding us all to celebrate life just a little more. He is known for his sudden, spontaneous plans to go out, turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Family lies at the centre of his world; whenever Jingle Akka, Pinky Akka, or Tiny Akka come down, he makes it a point to bring everyone together, ensuring no one is missed and that our family bonds remain strong and alive. His love for life, people, and togetherness reflects in everything he does. This tribute is a small acknowledgment of a man who teaches us, simply by being himself, to laugh freely, live fully, and hold our family close. You will be missed, mama but the heaven has become a little bit more fun as you are there and everyone there will be enjoying your warm hugs.

Chithappa, you were the heartbeat of every room you entered,
every space coming alive with your presence,
calling us to celebrate life a little more than planned.
    With sudden ideas,
    you turned ordinary days
into stories we return to again and again,
    always smiling.

    Family was your centre—
the quiet strength that kept you grounded.
    You gathered everyone close,
making sure no one was left out,
no bond loosened, no love forgotten.

Now I trust you are in heaven, Chithappa,
with your loved ones, rejoicing and praising God
    in His holy presence.

    Dear uncle,
Your joie de vivre was contagious. We have been touched by your hospitality and enthusiasm. You were a perfect host. We have all enjoyed your delightful story- telling and infectious laughter. You were a rock and the world to your three princesses. To your grandkids you were a king and a playmate all in one. You always made us feel so special. So blessed to have tasted your love and your fabulous biriyani. Your live and legacy will be cherished by us all forever.

May you rest in the arms of Jesus until we meet again

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you
