Gary Earl Sager
, age 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 7, 2026.
Gary was born on March 2, 1944, in Tacoma, Washington, to Earl and Pauline Sager. He was the third of five siblings and was raised in the Skagit Valley, on Big Lake, where he developed a strong sense of family, faith, and hard work.
He graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1962 and was a talented athlete who participated in many sports.
Gary spent his primary career as a Computer Operations Supervisor, working the graveyard shift at the King County Courthouse. He was dependable and dedicated, quietly serving for 30 years.
Gary was known for his deep and steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. He grew up attending Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Washington, and later served many years as the Worship Leader at Evergreen Evangelical Church in Lynnwood, Washington. His faith guided his life and touched the hearts of those around him.
Gary will be remembered as a Wonderful Man — he was generous, kind, loving, gentle, and funny — someone who would do anything for anyone in need. He found joy in his children and shared his love of fishing, snow skiing, music, cars, RC hydroplanes, and model trains.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Pauline Sager; his brother Ronald Sager; brother-in-law Duane Sturdy; his nephew Karl Sturdy; and several other beloved family members.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, and their two children, Shad and Hallie. He is also survived by his children from his first marriage to Paula Sager: Paul (DiAnn), Gaelyn (Allan) Couch, and Garrick (Sonja).
Gary was a proud grandfather to Demitrius (Christi), Cole (Genasee), Kalaan, Addison (Luke), Nicole (Zach), Alex (Ash), Charlie, Catie, Andrew, and Aubree, and was also blessed with six great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings: Barbara Sturdy, Sherilee Sager, Paul (Carolynn) Sager, and Nancy Sager.
A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be announced at a later date.
