Christa (Clutz) Miller

Christa (Clutz) Miller, age 61, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025 after a courageous, decade long battle with metastatic breast cancer. While she takes her well-deserved rest, her fighting spirit lives on in all who knew her.

Christa was born in Berkley, California on February 13th, 1964 to proud parents pastor Jon Wendell Clutz and and his wife Mary (Scherer) Clutz. Her love of God and lifelong involvement with the church was nurtured by the family’s multi-generational legacy of leadership in Lutheran ministry. She graduated from California Lutheran University with a degree in early childhood education. Teaching was Christa’s true calling, and her devoted career as an educator left a lasting impact on every life she touched, from  California, to Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Christa had a special bond with the ocean where the beach was, to her, a place of spiritual renewal. She was truly a child of the water.

Christa is survived by her parents Jon Wendell and Mary Clutz, sister Alexa MacDonald, husband Steven Miller, daughters Nicole Hutcherson, Natalie Hutcherson, and stepson Robert Miller; each committed to carrying forward her remarkable legacy of love and compassion.

Two services are planned to celebrate Christa’s life. The first will be at United Christian Church of Renton, WA on February 23, 2026. The second will be in May 2026 at the Scottish Rite Park in Des Moines, Iowa.
